Painting our home is a taunting tasks with hundreds of questions arising in our head. What color should I choose?, When should I start painting? and many more. Here we have tried to answer some of these common questions.

Q. What is the ideal time to start painting for a newly constructed house.

A. Recommend time to start painting is 6 months after cement plaster is done, however please ensure the surface to be painted is free from all kind of moisture and seepage before starting painting.

Q. Can we apply interior paints in exterior surfaces.

A. We offer distinct products for both interior and exterior surfaces, it is highly recommended to apply surface specific prescribed products only, product meant for exterior should not be applied in interior surface and product prescribed for interior should not be applied in exterior surface.

Q. What is meant by Oil based and Water based Products.

A. Those products like enamels, wood primer and metal primer which requires mineral turpentine oil and thinner for thinning are known as Oil based products. And the products like Emulsion, Distemper and Cement Primer, which are required to be thinned by water are known as water based products.

Q. What are the safety precaution to be considered while painting with oil based products (Enamels, Metal Primer and Wood Primer).

A. All organic-based solvents – including white spirit, solvent-based paints, solvent-based thinners and primers, solvent-based wood treatment products as well as paint strippers – represent potential health hazards, and require that particular precaution be taken both in use and in storage.

Q. Can we apply water based products in wooden and metal surfaces.

A. Water based products like emulsions, distemper and cement primer are not recommended for wooden and metal surfaces.

Q. Can we apply oil based products in cement surfaces.

A. No, oil based products are not recommended for cement surfaces.

Q. What is the general dilution ratio for emulsion paint?

A. The ideal dilution ratio is 40 – 50% of water in 1 litre of Emulsion

Q. What is the curing period for new surfaces?

A. We recommend a curing period of 30 days for new surfaces.

Q. How to remove stains.

A. Remove stains marks of mud, pencil mark, tea, coffee etc with a mild shop/detergent solution. For harsher stains like pickle, oil, shoe polish, crayons etc use a cloth/sponge soaked in turpentine solution. Immediately wipe it with soap-water solutions to prevent stains from spreading. Early removal of stains will give best result; stains removal may vary according to the nature of satins. Ensure a minimum of 1 week drying time for paint, before clearing.
